Description: Job Description Summary: The Medical Billing & Coding Specialist is responsible for collecting and entering medical claims information into electronic health records. Track payments for services and follow up with insurance companies and patients for payment. Ensure provider and insurance information is accurate .
Schedule: This is a full time, hybrid position, oper ating on a Monday- Friday schedule.
Compen sation : Targeted Hiring Salary: $27.26 - $34.83 USD / Hour Compensation will b e determin ed based on education, experience, and skills.

Essential Duties: - Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-authorization as necessary.
- Interpret medical information to assign ICD 10 diagnosis and CPT treatment codes to prepare and submit medical invoices for payment.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information.
- Track and collect payments, while updating patient records. Review and follow up with insurance company on unpaid or rejected claims. Resolves issues and resubmits claims .
- Prepare appeal letters to insurance carrier when not in agreement with a denial. Collect necessary information to accompany the claim.
- Work with insurance companies to ensure up to date coding is used, and any billing concerns are addressed in a timely manner .
- Act as a liaison between insurers, providers and patients.
- Evaluate records and prepare reports to provide transparency around billing and patient services.
- Maintain payer contracts and portal access to maximize reimbursement for services provided.
- Audit charts to ensure compliance and work with insurers and/or third party to support and address any compliance and regulatory concerns.
- Educate and advise clinic staff with properly coding provider services, procedures, diagnoses and treatments. Identify training needs and prepare and provide training to improve staff skills in collection and coding of health data.
- Other duties as assigned.
