Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this positio n is $34.88 p er hour.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Five years of plumbing experience.
- Preferred: Vocational training.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Obtain a Backflow Prevention Initial Tester Certification within twelve months of hire.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/section assignment .
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Maintains and repairs water, drainage, and hydronic systems in city buildings and parks according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs various types of piping, fittings, and valves for the conveyance of water, sewage, storm water, gas, compressed air, and other materials.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures, fittings, and related equipment such as: water closets, sinks, faucets, flushometers, back flow preventers, water heaters, pumps, and drinking fountains.
- Completes paperwork and communicates with supervisors and contractors regarding projects and problems.
- Interprets assignments from blueprints, sketches, and material takeoffs.
- Measures, cuts, bends, reams, threads, and installs a variety of pipes.
- Drives a motor vehicle to City facilities to perform maintenance and repairs of plumbing systems and equipment.

- Most work is performed in city buildings with some work performed in a City office environment.
- Visual and muscular dexterity in the operation of a variety of hand-held tools and shop equipment.

- Exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, and unpleasant odors.
- Move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including: computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Operate a motor vehicle to travel to/from various locations.
- Participates in rotating paid standby schedule for after-hours response to include weeknights, weekends and holidays.
