    What You'll Be Doing

    The Wake County Child Welfare team at the Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon is seeking a multitalented self starter Office Assistant to help us serve the over 700 children in our foster care system and the local community helped by our Child Protective Services (CPS) team. This is an amazing opportunity for you to begin your long and rewarding Health and Human Services career where you will make a positive impact in our community and the lives of those that need our help.

    In your new role, you will support the team by providing general office support duties for administrative, program, and technical operations. Daily duties are more varied and may include compiling records, preparing reports/information, answering phones, organizing files, composition, accounting, office equipment operation, distributing mail, and other general office support functions. Candidates with NCFAST and State or Local Government Social Services or Health and Human Services experience are encouraged to apply.

    About Our Team

    Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) is the consolidation of programs and services that include social services, public health, job search assistance, child support, and transportation. Our mission, in partnership with the community, is to facilitate full access to high quality and effective health and human services for Wake County residents.     The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • High school diploma or GED
    • One year of administrative/office support experience
    • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Department of Social Services and or Health and Human Services administrative experience
    • NC Fast experience


    How Will We Know You're 'The One'?

    • Basic knowledge of work units, policies, and procedures and the ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in the performance of office support tasks
    • Ability to multitask, facilitate the flow of work, and coordinate office support activities with other staff while demonstrating good teamwork
    • Ability to utilize office equipment, software, and systems to meet work needs
    • Ability to accomplish tasks with thoroughness with attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, listening skills, and the ability to effectively problem-solve

    Emergency Service Worker Statement
