Purpose of Division The Operations Division is responsible for the Airport Operations Centers (AOC), Airside and Landside Operations, Security, Airport Badging Offices, Safety, and Emergency Management at George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airport. The team works around the clock ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient customer experience from the roadway to the runway. The Operations Division is also the liaison to key stakeholders such as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Houston Fire Department (HFD), Houston Police Department (HPD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and other agencies ensuring the highest level of safety and security for our customers.
Description of Duties/Essential Functions of the Position The Senior Landside Agent maintains a safe and efficient airport environment for passengers and personnel through landside road inspections, regulatory investigations, and responding to airport incidents. The Senior Landside Agent will provide support to security incidents and will assist with activities by acting in a lead capacity to Landside Agents for enforcement of safety, security, and airport rules/regulations, to ensure a seamless flow of passenger and vehicle movement.
A Senior Landside Agent performs tasks in a proactive manner and responds to all incidents with purpose. Senior Landside Agents must remain flexible with their shift schedule and work assignments; responsible for performing a variety of Landside Operations tasks including but not limited to; incident response, terminal/landside inspections, traffic management, and ground transportation regulatory inspections. This position builds long term relationships with tenants and airport guests based on trust and commitment, while anticipating the needs of guests and keeping customer retention at the forefront. In addition, the Senior Landside Agent strives to improve processing for pick-up and drop-off at William P. Hobby Airport, by focusing on Landside Operations tasks. Senior Landside Agents have a full understanding of tasks that are assigned for completion, identifying and correcting minor discrepancies, and resolving conflicts to the benefit of all parties involved. A Senior Landside Agent must work well with coworkers to ensure Landside Operations is successful in all areas of responsibility.
Other Responsibilities May Include but Are Not Limited To: - Inspect airport perimeter, roads, and tenant facilities. Prepares inspection and investigation reports. Reports to management unsafe conditions, policy, and procedure violations, and takes corrective action as needed.
- Reports to management tenant activities not in compliance with airport leases, contracts, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Inspects commercial vehicles and enforces compliance of applicable regulations. Issues citations and initiates vehicle towing.
- Acts as an Operations field liaison during emergencies. Supports operational activities and maintains order during emergencies, follows the Airport Emergency Plan and other airport rules and regulations.
- Follows the Airport Security Plan. Supports security activities and maintains reports of all incidents requiring Landside Operations.
- Perform traffic and curbside management duties and enforces parking regulations.
- Assist in the training of Landside Agents and may assume the role of an Airport Operations Supervisor-Landside.
- Contributes to the team by performing other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances while working at the airport. WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. Expect to work in various uncomfortable climates: being outside during inclement weather. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Walking and standing for extended periods. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Requires a bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of experience in airport operations, airport security, airport safety and/or any other related field is required.
Directly related professional experience in airport operations/security or customer service may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid Class C Texas Driver's license and compliance with COH policies on driving.
PREFERENCES PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants with two years or more of experience in aviation operations, (airports, airline, air traffic control, or military). Consideration will be given to applicants with directly related experience in a stressful environment, airport operations, law enforcement, security, military, emergency management, customer service, and administrative skills within an aviation setting. Knowledge in administrative regulatory/statutory guidelines in a large hub airport setting a plus. Excellent customer service skills are highly desirable. Candidates with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Use of a two-way radio, creating and maintaining of electronic reports is highly desired.
