Job Description:OverviewGeneral maintenance of buildings and grounds as may be assigned. Maintenance to include painting, grounds upkeep, plumbing, carpentry, equipment maintenance and other areas as directed by the supervisor.
Essential Functions- Assembles, installs, repairs and maintains equipment relevant to the work area assigned.
- Installs and maintains parking meter posts, street marker posts, playground equipment, equipment specific to department duties and all other items.
- Supervises or assists personnel engaged in various trades, including plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry trades.
- May supervises a small group of workers when assigned.
- Safely operates various hand tools, golf cart, and mechanical equipment and cares for them.
- Operates various carpentry tools and equipment in carpentry repair and maintenance.
- Recognizes, corrects, and reports safety issues to immediate supervisor.
- Performs grounds maintenance and trash pick-up and removal.
- Excellent public relations/customer service skills for employees that frequently interact with the public, such as Payne Park or Municipal Auditorium.

Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years experience in light and medium maintenance equipment operations or in construction/building and grounds maintenance or mechanical maintenance; or the equivalent in education, training, and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.
Job Based Competencies- Knowledge of standard tools, material, methods and practices of the trade areas of operation and maintenance of light and medium maintenance equipment and grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to operate hand and power electrical and painting equipment.
- Ability to assist and/or perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting work, as well as related activities of these trades.
- Skill in the use and care of the tools, materials and equipment of the trade areas or of light and medium maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex floor plans and set up the event/activity accordingly.
ResponsibilityUnder the direction of and responsible to the Crew Leader or designated representative. Usually no supervision exercised. May assign and direct the work of a small group of laborers or community service workers assigned to a specific task
Physical RequirementsThis position requires the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Work requires considerable physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling, standing and crouching. Incumbent is subject to inside and outside activities with a variety of weather changes or atmospheric conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to activities such as noise and jobs with potential hazards that may require special protection and/or special safety precautions. Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed by crews for accuracy and quality. Incumbent is required to hear sufficiently to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment in performance of duties.
Public ContactLimited public contact; however, if position is located at Ed Smith Sports Stadium, Bobby Jones Golf Complex, Payne Park, Skate Park, Municipal Auditorium or Bayfront Children's Fountain public contact could be considerable during public events.
