    The Position

    Educator Licensing Analysts evaluate transcripts and determine eligibility for educator licensure for one of two geographical divisions of the State.

    The incumbent will evaluate college/university transcripts to determine the eligibility of individuals to receive a Nevada Teacher License; compute number of hours and areas on submitted transcripts and compare results to the requirements of the law and applicable manual to determine if the requirements are met for years of licensure and/or endorsements; review applications to determine if applicants meet the citizenship requirements of the law; review catalogs to determine if the college/university attended by the applicant was properly accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting association.

    This recruitment is for an Educator Licensing Analyst for the Nevada Department of Education, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Educator Licensing Analyst position is tasked with evaluating transcripts and determining eligibility for educator licensure in Nevada. The incumbent will evaluate transcripts to determine the eligibility of individuals to receive a Nevada Education license; compute the number of hours and areas on submitted transcripts or other documents and compare results to the requirements of law to determine if the requirements are met; and review catalogs to determine if the college/university attended by the applicant was properly accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting association.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional experience evaluating documents/applications which required making eligibility determinations based on policies, procedures, rules and regulations; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as described above, one year of which was at the professional level; OR one year of experience as an Educator Licensing Analyst Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
