Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC) office is recruiting for
ATC Accountant/Auditor Trainees* who work under the supervision of higher-level accountants or auditors while developing the required knowledge and skills to independently perform journey-level accounting or auditing duties. Essential duties include preparing and analyzing accounting and financial statements, making adjusting entries in several subsystems of a departmental accounting system, and performing specialized accounting functions such as tax or cost accounting; performs compliance and operational audits; prepares audit reports with findings and recommendations.

Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14 Auditing Pay Differential - 2.0% above base rate of pay. Certified Public Accountant Stipend - $750 annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. Incumbents will be required to make provision for transportation. At time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
Promotion: Accountant/Auditor Trainee is the trainee level within the accounting series; incumbents are eligible for promotion to
Accountant/Auditor ($58,760 - $80,745 Annually) upon successful completion of a training program and receipt of a satisfactory work performance evaluation. Incumbents
must promote within 24 months or be terminated .

Minimum Requirements REQUIRED: EDUCATION Must possess a bachelor's degree in
accounting, finance, business administration, economics OR a bachelor's degree in another field which
must include 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in
accounting .
**No experience required.** IMPORTANT NOTES: Transcripts MUST be attached if qualifying with a degree in another field or you may submit them to employment@hr.sbcounty.gov by the filing deadline. EDUCATION Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have passed the Ca lifornia Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Government accounting coursework is desirable.
Selection Process Examination Procedure : The selection process will consist of a
competitive evaluation of qualifications
AND an
online assessment . The online assessment will consist of an evaluation of skills and knowledge in the following areas :
- Accounting Principles and Practices
- Fiscal Analysis
