    Position Description

    The City of Tacoma Municipal Court is seeking a Therapeutic Courts Coordinator to support the daily operations of the Tacoma Municipal Court Therapeutic Court program. This is a grant funded position through December 31, 2028, with the possibility of an extension.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethical standards required by state and federal statutes
    • Develop, plan, coordinate and implement new program activities and strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the Therapeutic Courts program
    • Provide case management for program participants; schedule and facilitate meetings and group sessions, attend court hearings, assist with intake assessments, and provide guidance and support as needed
    • Collaborate with other community resources to maintain and develop positive working relationships
    • Prepare grant applications and monitor current grant funding related to programs; research alternative and/or additional funding sources, complete and submit all required financial information, collect and compile data and prepare progress reports connected to grant awards
    • Evaluate the program's effectiveness and areas of improvement; monitor success rates, perform research and analysis in order to provide recommendations for current and future program needs


    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*
    Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, social work or directly related field

    Minimum Experience*
    2 years of community program administration, and or case management for a substance use disorder or mental health program

    *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

    Deferred Compensation: Income can be set aside on a pretax basis and invested for supplementation of normal retirement income.

    Retirement: All employees of the City, except members of the Police and Fire services, Tacoma Rail and certain project employees, are included in the Tacoma Employees' Retirement System.     Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
