Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small human resources team that provides customer-focused support to team members in the Insurance Divisions of the Department of Commerce and Insurance. Our 4-person team provides human resources support to team members regarding compensation, time and leave, payroll, position classification, recruitment and selection, training and development, onboarding and performance management. You will be an integral part to ensuring all team members receive support and our Department remains engaged in statewide initiatives and best practices.

  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding and separation processes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for human resources questions. Provide guidance to team members regarding policies, procedures, rules and laws (both federal and state).
  • Maintain electronic personnel files.
  • Serve as a back-up for processing personnel actions and reconciling time and leave.


What are the qualifications for the position?

  • Knowledge through a Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of relevant experience. Substitutions may be allowed.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources and personnel administration concepts.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in performance of duties.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the SAM II HR payroll system.
  • Working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of grammar, spelling and formatting of correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Courteous with strong customer service and communication skills.
