Wake County is Looking For You!!!

The Veteran Services Division is seeking a Customer Service Representative with Military experience to provide customer service to citizens of Wake County and our employees. Services may include responding to customer inquiries regarding specific services, requesting and processing customer information, taking payments, or providing information regarding regularly performed County activities. The Customer Service Representative role is similar to an Office Assistant except the customer service function typically represents the primary role and a significant portion of the duties.

Essential functions:
  • Answers calls and responds to inquiries from customers, both internally and externally
  • Responds to service requests, schedules appointments, provides general information or directs requests to the appropriate area
  • Greets persons entering establishment, determines nature and purpose of visit, and directs or escorts them to specific destinations
  • Responds to requests for general information regarding regularly performed County activities or refers to the appropriate area
  • Completes routine office forms and records. Records intake information; enters customer data in system; records payments, cancels or updates accounts
  • Maintains records of customer interactions or transactions recording details of inquiries
  • Generates routine reports summarizing work activities
  • Processes mail. Performs routine word processing and scanning
  • Copies, compiles, sorts and files information

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Military affiliation
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Must be able to multi-task and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Data entry experience

  • Knowledge of how to use basic functions of the Microsoft Office Suite
