The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for an IT Technician 6 to join our Information Services team located in Carson City, Nevada. Under limited supervision, the incumbent will be responsible to install, configure and repair workstation hardware and software on a LAN, troubleshoot hardware and software problems both on-site and at remote locations, consult with management and other team members or agencies for issue identification and remediation, determine automation requirements, test hardware and evaluate software licensing options, and make recommendations in relation to identified needs. Hardware and software troubleshooting and remediation may include other LAN connected devices and services such as Video Teleconferencing, Video Camera systems, Mobile Device Management, VoIP phones, Security Scanning services, and other software administration consoles. Incumbents assist in planning, installing and maintaining network infrastructure, conduct routine analysis of network hardware and software, and provide for data security and recovery as required. Manage Active Directory accounts and permissions. Additionally, the incumbent will install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and address help desk user support or mainframe/server operations. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
