Job Description

Summary

The purpose of this position is to monitor and maintain the state computer system and handle citizen interaction by managing records and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. ? Operating the TCIC/NCIC/TLETS computer systems.
  • Record and alarm permit maintenance, vacation house checks, coordination of log book, general office duties.
  • Conducts investigations by making contact with victims, gathering evidence such as photographs and witness and victim statements, producing affidavits for defendant’s arrest and filing cases with the District Attorney’s office and initiates field investigations of city code violations.
  • Provides crime scene and traffic direction/control field support during investigations as well as coordinating with other agencies in joint investigations.
  • Prepares a variety of documents by gathering information and evidence, completing the appropriate forms, typing affidavits, warrants and base reports and receiving supervisor’s approval.
  • Provides services to crime victims by providing information and referrals to available supportive services.
  • Prepares offense and incident reports and testifies in court if necessary.
  • Drive to and from court to pick up and drop off paperwork.
  • Register sex offenders.
  • Process citizen fingerprints.
  • Assist with e-filing to district attorney’s office as needed.
  • Assist with property tech duties on an as needed basis.
  • Identifies and resolves assigned CID issues in a timely manner.
  • Writes detailed incident, investigation, activity, and other reports.
  • Investigates causes and results of accidents.
  • Retrieve in-car, bodycam videos, and 911 calls and makes them available for upload.
  • Upload evidence to the district attorney submission website.
Other duties may be assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate’s degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school preferred. At least one year of related experience is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record. Police officer certification is not required for this position.
