Job Description

Pay Range: $17.62/hr. - $22.02/hr.

Workdays & Hours: The candidate must be able to work 2nd shift or 3rd shift and commit to the possibility of working at various court locations and rotating shifts in a 24/7 operation.

A Municipal Court Clerk I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court.

We are seeking a self-motivated and customer service-focused Municipal Court Clerk I to join our team. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical, administrative and financial duties in support of the Municipal Court.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A HS Diploma/GED
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Court Clerk Certification Level 1 within one year of hire
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Court Clerk Certification
  • Customer Service Experience in Court Environment
  • Administrative or Clerical Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Including: Word, Excel, and Outlook

The job responsibilities include
  • Assists with entering traffic, parking and general citation information into computer system.
  • Assists with administrative duties for the court, as assigned, which includes processing paperwork; scanning and printing documents; data entry, and updating and maintaining various schedules and listings.
  • Receives and sorts all incoming mail and distributes to appropriate staff. Logs all certified mail received into logbook.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

Working Conditions

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Physical Demand

Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
