JOB SUMMARY

JOB SUMMARY
Assists in the Activity Center Natatorium off-season and coordinates, plan and manages aquatic operations at the City’s Rio Vista Pool facilities during the Summer Aquatics Program; Assists in overseeing the delivery of aquatic services, programs, and events; assists with preparing and maintaining facility/program records and documentation; assists with monitoring and maintaining facilities and equipment for area of responsibility; assists with swim lessons/ lifeguard duties; responds to public inquiries and complaints; and supervises assigned personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day Activity Center Natatorium operations during off-season months:
  • Monitoring and ensuring the aquatic facility is properly maintained for safe use and enjoyment by the public; performs safety checks.
  • Facilitating the delivery of high-quality aquatic services including swimming lessons, lap swim sessions, and special events.
  • Provides customer service and assistance to patrons; responds to various types of facility/program inquiries; assists with facilitating the timely and effective resolution of patron complaints.
  • Developing, communicating, and implementing strategies to enhance facility operations and/or improve service delivery.
  • Preparing and maintaining of various types of facility, program, and safety records and documentation.
Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day Rio Vista Pool operations primarily during peak season (April-September):
  • Monitors and ensures the aquatic facility is properly maintained for safe use and enjoyment by the public; performs safety checks.
  • Facilitates the delivery of high-quality aquatic services including swimming lessons, lap swim sessions, pool parties, and special events.
  • Provides customer service and assistance to patrons; responds to various types of facility/program inquiries; facilitates the timely and effective resolution of patron complaints.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements strategies to enhance facility operations and/or improve service delivery.
  • Prepares and maintains various types of facility, program, and safety records and documentation; oversees/prepares daily cash reports.
Assists with the supervision and participates in the maintenance of aquatic facilities:
  • Oversees pool chemistry checks; monitors water levels; reviews and prepares chemical logs/reports.
  • Monitors pool pumps and chemical feeders; backwashes pool system.
  • Cleans pool and related facilities including pool deck, restrooms, and storage rooms.
Schedules, coordinates, and provides training to seasonal staff members; provides updates on safety policies and procedures; ensures staff maintain necessary certifications and/or in-service training.Assist in the interaction and communicate with patrons; responds to patron inquiries and/or suggestions for improvement; facilitates the timely and effective resolution of complaints.Assists with lifeguard duties as required.Monitors and recommends supplies to order.Provides 24/7 on-call assistance; responds to emergency issues as necessary.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of employment.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience required.
  • Two (2) seasons experience managing aquatic facility operations preferred.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required.
  • Lifeguard Instructor certifications are required within one (1) year of employment.
  • Certified Pool-Spa Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator within one (1) year of employment required.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

JOB DIMENSIONS
  • Must be able to read and comprehend regulations, municipal codes, handbooks, and manuals; must be able to review/prepare departmental policies, payroll/purchasing documents, and program records.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, outside agencies, vendors, patrons, and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Subject to vision constantly; standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, balancing, talking and foot controls occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting and climbing rarely.

Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, wet surfaces, water, pool maintenance equipment, hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and blood borne pathogens.
