Issue, monitor, and track equipment during rentals and collect and store equipment after use. Qualification Guidelines A typical way to obtain the requisite knowledge and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this classification is as follows: EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 16 years of age or older, work permit may be required for current high school students. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience involving the planning and supervision of recreation, juvenile delinquency prevention or health-related activities; or any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the desirable knowledge and abilities listed below. College-level courses in recreation, physical education, sociology, education, criminal justice or a related field may be used in combination with experience to meet the minimum qualifications. One of the vacancies is in Aquatics. Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certificate are highly desirable. C ertification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is also highly desirable for any vacancy in this classification. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: recreational, educational and health-related programs and activities for diverse age groups; substance abuse issues; parent education methods and family dynamics; the rules and regulations governing competitive games and athletic activities; first-aid practices and techniques; gang dynamics and juvenile delinquency prevention techniques.
