The Water Safety Instructor is responsible for organizing and instructing various levels of swim ability classes. The instructor will monitor and complete progress reports on all children each session.

Minimal Qualifications:
Must be at least Sixteen (16) years of age. Must pass background check and the urine drug screen. A minimum of 1 year of Swim Lesson Teaching experience or Competitive swimming background at a high school or higher level (Preferred) Possess in-depth knowledge of all four competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly) Strong organizational skills Ability to demonstrate swimming skills Ability to work outside in the poolside area up to 95% of the time, exposed to sunlight, wet and humid conditions, and heat occasionally exceeding 100 degrees and cold as 60 degrees Ability to spend long periods of time in the water Ability to communicate effectively. Carry out given instructions. Must be comfortable working with children and adults of all ages and ability levels.

Required current certifications, licenses, and trainings:
American Red Cross Professional CPR/AED (will train) American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (will train)

Work Schedule:
Swim Instructor must be available to teach all swim classes as scheduled for 2 continuous weeks at a time Required to prepare swim class at least 30 minutes prior to class start Must be available Mornings, Evenings and Some Weekends

Essential Job Tasks:
Follows designed swim lesson curriculum Creates goals for individual’s progression Lead and motivate participants Ability to effectively communicate to members, guests, and staff Evaluate participant performance and progress Records class participation for lessons Educates swimmers on water safety and life-saving principles Teaching current and industry leading strokes and techniques Ensure the pool or training area is neat and free of hazards Respond to emergencies in pool or poolside in tandem with the facility safety team All other duties as assigned
