with bi-annual step increases of approximately 2.5% up to top salary step.



The Department of Public Works, County Surveyor's Division, is recruiting for Land Surveyors who plan, coordinate, and resolve legal and other problems related to survey functions. Land Surveyors sign and seal all documents in accordance with state law; review maps for conformity to planning regulations and accepted land surveying practices; certify that all conditions of approval and other legal requirements have been met; provide lead direction over technicians; confer with representatives of various departments, governmental agencies, private engineers, surveyors, title insurance industry, and land developers on matters affecting mapping, land boundary determinations, legal access, real property rights, and perpetuation of survey monuments; analyze land, cadastral, and geodetic surveys, and right of way engineering; write legal descriptions and documents; and prepares presentations to the Planning Commission.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at the time of appointment.

Physical: Frequent sitting, occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting. Requires fine manipulation in both hands. Continuously required to reach above and below shoulder level. Must frequently demonstrate near vision and occasionally demonstrate far vision. Occasionally required to lift and carry 10 pounds or less.

Minimum Requirements

Must meet one of the following Options:

Option 1: Possession of a current license to practice Land Surveying in the State of California.

Option2: Registered Civil Engineer authorized to practice land surveying in the State of California. Pursuant to Business and Professions Codes 8700-8805.
