Assistant Professor

The Department of Psychology is searching for a tenure-track, academic year position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. The candidate’s area of specialization must be in clinical psychology. Primary responsibilities include: 1) teaching foundation and advanced courses in clinical psychology within our undergraduate (B.A.) program as well as graduate (M.A.) program in General/Experimental Psychology and 2) mentoring undergraduate and graduate research students in an active research program in the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate will have a workload consisting of 12 WTUs of instruction and 3 WTUs of non-instructional activities. Non-instructional responsibilities typically include but are not limited to, advising students, community service, participating in program development, and committee service at all levels of university governance. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):
An earned doctorate of philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an institution accredited by the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation (APAC).
Required Experience:
California Psychologist License or License-eligible. Evidence of successful teaching, either as an instructor-of-record or as a teaching assistant. Evidence of research productivity. Possess a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Preferred Experience:
At least one of the following areas of research experience:
a. Psychological Assessment or Measurement

b. Child Clinical Psychology, Transition Age Youth, or College Student Mental Health

c. Health Psychology, Integrated Care, or Pain Management

d. Neuroscience or Other Biomedical Specializations
Evidence of clinical experience in evidenced-based measurement or therapy. Evidence of readiness to engage undergraduate and masters-level students in a specific area of research Collaboration across and within disciplines Supervision or mentoring of research students or research team coordination. Participation in the submission of grant proposals and/or implementation of grant-funded activities.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range is $6,167-$6,334 per month for Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year). As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

About the College and Department:

The Department of Psychology is an academic unit within The College of Science and Mathematics, which is one of eight main instructional academic units of California State University, Fresno. We take pride in actively engaging our diverse students in teaching, research, and community service and have one of the highest enrollments on campus, with approximately 1,850 undergraduate majors, 85 graduate students, and 20 tenured or tenure-track faculty.
