Department of Biological Sciences Temporary Faculty Pool The Department Cal Poly Humboldt is known for its very strong programs in the Biological Sciences. Department of Biological Sciences Temporary Faculty Pool The Department Cal Poly Humboldt is known for its very strong programs in the Biological Sciences. The strengths of our programs have been noted in studies by the National Science Foundation and the Dryfus, Keck, and Welch Foundation. We offer extensive research opportunities for both our undergraduate and graduate students. We offer three undergraduate majors and minors- Biology, Botany, and Zoology. Biology majors can elect to specialize in one seven emphases. As well, our graduate program, M.S. in Biology, offers four emphases and we offer a variety of pre-professional health programs. Our programs emphasize hands-on learning and personal interaction with faculty members. Many of courses take advantage of the outstanding natural environment surrounding Cal Poly Humboldt.
