ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT LIFE/DEAN OF STUDENTS

The Position: Reporting to the vice president for student life and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the associate vice president for student life and dean of students will be expected to: be responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the Division of Student Life, which includes the Office of the Dean of Students, Student Conduct, Associated Students, Inc., the University, Student Union, and the Center for Student Involvement; advance the educational mission of the University and support graduation initiatives by providing leadership for co-curricular programs and activities that foster student development and success; play a key role in the development of university policy and participate in institutional planning, evaluation, and assessment; and help lead in the conceptualization and implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts across the division of student life.
Required Qualifications & Experience: A Master’s Degree in a relevant academic discipline and at least 5 years of increasingly responsible positions in student affairs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, management, budgeting, and assessment learning outcomes. The candidate will possess outstanding written and oral communication skills and an ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Appointment: The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
