The Associate Director provides direction, management, and effective leadership to employees in various building and mechanical trades and energy/sustainability operations, and is responsible for maintaining the campus facilities, utility systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for approximately 2.5 million square feet of building space. The Associate Director is responsible for the reporting and planning of general maintenance of facilities, preventative maintenance, deferred maintenance, and improving work processes and performance standards. The Associate Director is a partner with CPFM directors and collaborates with various departments to serve and support the campus. An employee with four years of experience at the Civil Engineer level may apply to compete for promotion to Senior Engineer. Management level positions may also be filled through a competitive selection process, or by appointment by the Chief Engineer and General Manager. HEALTH INSURANCE MEDICAL: Districts paid. Employees may choose from several HMO and Indemnity plans. As of January 1, 2024, the Districts contribute $2,202.87 per month for medical insurance. Depending on the choice of health plan, the Districts contribution covers all or a large portion of the premium for family coverage. DENTAL: Districts paid. The Districts pay the full premium for employee and dependent coverage for a prepaid dental program which provides for most routine dental care through a panel of contracting dentists with no deductibles. Employees are eligible to enroll in an indemnity plan if requested within thirty days after completion of three years of employment (sooner for some bargaining units), or during subsequent open enrollment periods. VISION: Employee paid. LIFE: The Districts pay for a term life policy. Employees can buy additional types and amounts of life insurance coverage at group rates. LEAVE TIME VACATION: Employees receive 88 hours of paid vacation after one full year of service, increasing up to 128 hours per year after five years, 168 hours per year after 15 years and up to 208 hours after 25 years. SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION The Railroad Civil Engineer II will work closely with other staff and consultants to perform project engineering and project management duties for railroad design projects. This position will also be the subject matter expert on a variety of projects including plan reviews, preparation of various applications for environmental documentation and agreements with local agencies, railroads and third parties involving public works construction, station design, grade crossings, grade separations and utilities to ensure compliance with railroad engineering standards and regulatory requirements. This position will be involved in managing projects and tasks as part of the Southern California Optimized Rail Expansion Program (SCORE), a multi-year program to increase the capacity of the regional rail system by adding double track, station platforms, grade crossing improvements, signal respacing, and maintenance facilities. Some health plans are only available in certain counties and/or zip codes. You contribute 12.5 percent of the plan premium for coverage of you and your eligible dependents. You may waive coverage if you are covered under another group health plan; you must provide proof. Once you waive coverage, you will only be allowed to enroll during Open Enrollment or within 60 days from the date on which your other coverage is no longer available (proof is required). If you elect to waive coverage, you will receive $300.00 per month taxable earnings, paid in two installments of $150 each on the first two paychecks of the month.
