Financial Services Specialist I/II is a flexibly-staffed class series with the work normally performed at the II level, but with initial selection possible at the I or entry level. Incumbents hired at the I level will be expected to gain experience and demonstrate proficiency which qualifies them to promote to the II level after the equivalent of two years full time service. If proficient, incumbents will be eligible to be flexibly promoted to the II level after the equivalent of one year. Appointment at the I level will not be extended beyond two years. Positions in this class series are normally found in County departments with multiple budgets and funding sources and/or with extensive contracting with service providers or community-based organizations. In addition to the provision of financial services, responsibilities also include performing general administrative services work, planning and conducting analytical studies and overseeing support functions and staff. Senior Assistant Librarian (12-month) - Collections and Acquisitions Librarian University Library Position Description The University Library at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian (12-month) with the appointment starting as soon as possible. The Position The University Library at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Collections & Acquisitions Librarian at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. Responsibilities The successful candidate will serve two roles: as the unit lead for the work and staff in the Collections, Access, and Processing Department (CAPS) and as a member of the Reference, Instruction, & Outreach Services (RIOS) librarian team directing the collection management work of subject liaison librarians. The position will have the following core responsibilities: Direct and oversee the work of Library Services Specialist staff and/or student workers in the Collections, Acquisitions, and Processing (CAPS) unit; Collaborate with Open Educational Resources (OER) librarian on managing purchases for the Affordable Learning $olutions (AL$) program; Collaborate with the Digital Initiatives Librarian on CSU-wide open access initiatives and cataloging of CSUDH theses and dissertations; Communicate effectively with the Electronic Resources Librarian regarding new electronic acquisitions in order to ensure access; Coordinate the process of subject liaison librarian selection and deselection, including providing training as needed and overseeing the creation and maintenance of approval and demand-driven-acquisition profiles; Work with vendors and consortia to identify products, arrange trials, and negotiate licenses for resources; Monitor library acquisitions budgets and provide recommendations to the Dean of the Library on collections spending; Participate in departmental efforts in information literacy, including student learning outcomes assessment and teaching in the general education program; Effectively provide research help through general reference services that include instant message chat, phone, email, in-person, and individual research consultations; Participate in department outreach to new students and other university community populations as part of the RIOS team; Engage in scholarship and service to the university and profession Qualifications Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, or international equivalent, by the time of appointment Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated ability to manage projects and multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment Evidence of a commitment to social justice, diversity, anti-racism, and inclusion in library practice Demonstrated potential to meet the requirements for tenure and promotion under the library's criteria for librarianship, scholarship, and service Demonstrated experience with collection management; Familiarity with acquisitions, licensing, and copyright of electronic resources, including streaming media; Proficiency performing collection assessment and usage analysis; Preferred Qualifications Experience with ExLibris Alma Experience directing the work of library staff Experience providing reference services and research help Teaching experience using active learning strategies Applied knowledge of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education Demonstrated knowledge of Springshare products such as LibGuides and LibChat How to Apply A completed on-line application must be received by electronic submission to be considered.
