The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s ( PARD ) Historic Preservation and Tourism Program ( HPT ) is seeking a Temporary - Program Specialist for an extensive research project on the Barton Springs Swim-Ins that occurred approximately from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. In 2023, PARD was awarded an undertold marker from the Texas Historical Commission ( THC ) for the Barton Springs Swim-Ins. Working closely with HPT , the intern will construct a research project design, conduct wide-ranging research, and write a narrative based on their interpretation of research. The swim-ins historical narrative will be placed on file with the THC .
