Job Summary Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Alumni and Community Engagement, the Senior Director for Annual Giving oversees the development, management and evaluation of strategic and tactical long-/short-term program plans and budgets for a comprehensive annual giving program. Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of University Relations, the Director of Annual Giving will provide strategic leadership for the central annual giving operations, creating and implementing a road map to sustain and grow annual philanthropic support for all academic colleges, units, and athletics. The incumbent will oversee the design and implementation of fundraising programs that broaden and sustain the base of annual philanthropic gift support by establishing a seamlessly integrated relationship-based pipeline of CSULB alumni, LBSU Athletics fans, parents and friends. The incumbent will also collaborate across UR&D and campus to identify college, division, and coach funding priorities and will execute a fundraising plan that amplifies those priorities during giving days and other retention and acquisition-focused annual giving initiatives. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership for and manage all aspects of the annual giving program, including two giving days, direct mail, e-giving, and crowdfunding in partnership with the Digital Giving Associate, with a focus on increasing annual support from all constituencies to enhance the prospect pipeline. Collaborate with development and other leadership in each academic college and unit, as well as coaching staff in athletics, to identify funding priorities, strategize, and partner around key opportunities like giving days. Partner with LBSU Athletic administrators and coaches to implement the overall annual giving strategy for Athletics. Oversee annual giving fundraising programs that target key audiences, including senior class giving in partnership with mybeach efforts in Alumni Engagement, faculty/staff giving, and parent giving. Serve as the point of contact for internal partners including Strategic Communications for creative content, Advancement Services for data and gift processing, and Central Operations for procurement, as well as external partners such as mail house vendors. Identify and implement new programs, approaches, and stewardship opportunities that will include, but are not limited to, LBSU Athletics fans, senior class giving, parent giving, employee giving, student philanthropy, donor follow up and acknowledgment, especially first-time and recurring donors, contributing to overall retention. Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of University Relations, the Director of Annual Giving will provide strategic leadership for the central annual giving operations, creating and implementing a road map to sustain and grow annual philanthropic support for all academic colleges, units, and athletics. Within the Division of University Advancement, the Athletics Annual Fund Coordinator, under general supervision of the Associate Athletics Director of Development, performs moderately complex duties in coordinating and supporting the Roadrunner Club through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects for CSUB Athletics. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Stewardship Assist with managing an assigned portfolio of annual fund-level donors and prospects. Keep continued contact (in person, electronically, and telephonically) to provide the highest level of stewardship and donor service exercising some judgement and discretion. In concert with the Associate Athletics Director of Development, and appropriate event staff, assist with coordinating donor events that provide stewardship opportunities through reserving space, performing outreach, sending reminders to attendees, assisting with marketing/promotion of the event, and setting up and taking down the event. Order gifts and promotional items and benefit delivery at the direction of the Director. Set-up, monitor event success, communicate any needs to the appropriate individual, and teardown basketball/baseball hospitality and chalk talks following standard policies and procedures. With direction from the Associate Athletic Director of Development, assist with the coordination of the Roadrunner Club Board and its volunteers by setting up and sending calendar invites for meetings, creating agendas, prepare materials, etc. Solicitation In conjunction with Annual Giving and Stewardship department, coordinate phone-a-thon program by pulling phone lists, setting up times and phones for student athletes or board members to make calls, creation of emails, and putting together quarterly newsletter and annual informational brochure following pre-established template. Maintain contact (in-person, electronically, and telephonically) with donors about renewing annual gifts, and maintain contact with prospective donors about making contributions, to support CSUB athletics. With approval from the Athletics Director, the Associate Athletics Director of Development, and assigned athletics staff, work with coaching staff and student-athletes on assisting with fundraising efforts for scholarships and excellence funds. Assist with the drafting of proposals for donors and prospective donors using pre-made templates. Identification Work with Data Analyst and Prospect Researcher to assist with prospect research to identify potential donors. Attend community and sporting events to network and develop relationships. Regularly enter data into the university’s donor database and help maintain data integrity. This includes updating contact information, reviewing giving history, managing relationships, running lists and reports. Cultivation Participate in the development and execution of cultivation events with prospective donors and current donors (i.e. AD’s Dinner, influencer dinners, and other meetings). Attend campus and community events to network with prospective donors. The Position : The Major Gift Officer is responsible for a major gift portfolio of 100-125 individuals. The successful candidate must be a results-driven and highly motivated fundraiser with a proven track record of fundraising success with five, six, and preferably seven figure philanthropic gifts. The individual must also possess the enthusiasm, expertise, and experience to collaborate efforts with the offices of Annual Giving, Corporate & Foundation Relations, and Planned Giving. The incumbent will: identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals for the support of college and University programs and services; conduct appropriate donor recognition and stewardship activities in collaboration with the executive director of stewardship; prepare written fundraising materials and proposals for presentation to potential donors; prepare and implement an annual development plan which encompasses fundraising goals and priorities; prepare periodic reports; be a self-initiator of projects; work with volunteers; and utilize a computerized database system to manage prospects, donor contacts, and gifts in accordance with the University Advancement office requirements, and Development Policies and Procedures. Required Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Five years of experience in front line fundraising, with proven track record of success. Successful candidate should have working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access, and fundraising software, such as Raisers Edge) and possess integrity, work ethic, and respect for confidentiality. Incumbent must have strong interpersonal, strategic thinking, communication and writing skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
