When supporting the Unit, job duties will include: Workers' Compensation Administration: •Coordinate Workers' Compensation program, including providing information to injured employees regarding benefits and procedures; counsel employees, managers, and supervisors on Workers' Compensation procedures, disability management and vocational rehabilitation procedures and State and Federal laws regarding the disabled. •Ensure timely reporting of claims to the 3rd party administrator; request and records substantiating documentation from physicians, departments and witnesses. •Interview claimants, witnesses, supervisors and physicians to ascertain the credibility of claims; respond to requests for authorization for medical treatment and approve payment for such treatment. •Conduct audit and reporting of all lost work time due to the injury. Complete OSHA Form 300 Log for annual postings. •Monitor Workers' Compensation cases and the Return-To-Work program, including collaborating with the designated providers to ensure that the employees return to work safely with proper work functions for the medical restrictions and assisting in the development and implementation of transitional duty. •Develop and conduct employee and supervisory training programs. •Recommend and coordinate any revisions or changes to policy and procedures as indicated by applicable OSHA and worker's compensation laws and regulations; oversee compliance with internal policies and procedures. •Communicate with claimants, supervisors, and physicians to ascertain the condition and status of injured employees. Ergonomic Program: •Maintain the Ergonomic Program database; track all ergonomic requests and ergonomic equipment. •Engage with employees and their supervisors to fully understand the ergonomic request; coordinate ergonomic requests with employees, supervisors, and vendors. •Coordinate Ergonomic training for staff. ADAAA and FEHA Disability Management: •Manage ADAAA cases; actively engage in the Interactive Process with employees, management team, and medical providers to understand any requested work modifications / accommodations due to a disability. •Analyze restrictions and assist in determining modified duty or light duty assignments. •Ensure all cases are managed and documented in a timely and accurate manner. •Review and update procedures. •Coordinate ADAAA and FEHA training for supervisors. General Administration: •Assist the Risk Manager in the Risk unit with a variety of administrative tasks, including drafting memos, creating announcements and ensuring all files are properly organized. •Participate in the new employee orientation process. •Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. AND Experience: The equivalent to two years of full-time professional personnel experience in three of the following areas: classification, compensation, employee relations, recruitment and selection, benefits or training. Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience as described above may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. About the Position PLEASE NOTE: This is a 10/12 pay plan position. The incumbent will work 10 months out of the year (August - May) with the salary spread over 12 months. The Video Lab Coordinator (VLC) manages, coordinates and supervises all equipment, activities, and student staff who participate in this facility, currently referred to as the TV Studio, LI 1075. Responsibilities Include: repairing all video production equipment, providing instruction on the correct usage of the equipment; providing instructional support to the instructors who teach courses in the facility; maintaining Communication Media Production inventory; training and lead graduate and undergraduate student assistants; preparing budgets, reports, and analysis of data and equipment; providing video, web, and convergence services to the Department of Communication and to other departments. The VLC also provides production support for the teaching of visual and audio curriculum, streaming media services, video production, video editing, and multimedia support. Responsibilities Supervision of Facility: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and lead student assistant workers. Supervise the Cal State East Bay student video production facilities including the student TV studio and associated control room. Lead student assistants and personally perform duties related to the operations of Cal State East Bay video and podcasting production facilities, including the student TV studio and associated control room. Oversee scheduling the facility, preparing the studio systems and control room for operation, demonstrating the operation of equipment and software, and conducting workshops in studio lighting console operation, character generator, switcher, and keying operations, etc. Check and adjust studio timing, maintain the studio physical environment, coordinate the disposal of surplus equipment, and enforce safety regulations and conditions. Ensure scheduling conflicts do not occur, studio equipment is checked and working 30 minutes before scheduled time, accessory items are in place and working. Work to ensure that no injuries occur in the facility, equipment is not damaged by students, sets are tidy and cables are neatly coiled and stored; surplus equipment is removed within three months of declaring it surplus; faculty express satisfaction with student support; student assistants are trained and available for hours needed by the curriculum and production schedules. Manage and Coordinate Facility Software and Operation Systems: Coordinate, maintain, and schedule video editing lab and individual workstations. Perform duties related to the coordination, maintenance, and scheduling of the video editing lab and individual workstations. This includes: installation of software and operating systems and upgrades, troubleshooting operating system problems, managing server space, demonstrating software packages and editing systems and assisting students. Provide first-level support for the workstation hardware and 100% of user support for software, including the creation and management of user accounts. Ensure software versions are updated, students have server accounts at the beginning of the semester as needed, OS and software packages are the latest version available to the department. Maintain and Repair Equipment: Maintain all field production equipment and studio equipment, including video control room electronics. Manage and arrange for the timely repair of broken equipment and periodic servicing schedules and activities throughout the facility. Perform minor repairs and maintenance as necessary. Ensure date and status of repair is maintained in the inventory database. Instructional and Equipment Availability to Students: Coordinate the alignment of the instructor’s curricular goals in course-based assignments and productions with tutoring of students in the lab and availability of equipment. Demonstrate the operation of field equipment, studio control room, and accessory devices. Conduct periodic workshops - workshops and demonstrations are conducted at least once a semester. Ensure equipment is available to students and they know how to properly use it. Ensure that scheduling conflicts do not occur, service and repair of broken equipment is sent out weekly, equipment is clean, power cords and other cables are not frayed, equipment is tested before check-out and upon return, and batteries are fully charged at checkout and additional batteries are provided. Equipment status is published; students are notified by email or phone if a scheduled item will not be available. Schedule and check out equipment when required. Supervise student assistants involved with maintaining the inventory of equipment in the studio, the editing lab, and for field production checkout. Maintain Inventory: Maintain inventory and order of supplies and equipment needed throughout the facility. Publish procedures and policies. Signage is clear, procedures are clearly posted and produced, and videotaped instruction is professionally edited and accomplishes objectives. Ensure inventory is accurate and maintained electronically in a database updated each semester; list includes status and date sent to repair; adequate supplies, batteries, patch cords, etc., are always available. Supervise student assistants involved with developing and personally develop, paper, video, and computer delivered instruction and signage about the operation of various equipment and systems in the facility. Analysis and Reporting: Assist in developing specifications and budgets for grants and proposals, and assist Communication Department faculty in their distribution throughout the university offices. Research and recommend alternative products and solutions. Ensure specifications and budgets are developed in time to meet the requestor’s deadlines, delivered in electronic format and filed; ensure that distribution is done promptly and within the requestor’s deadline. Maintain records of usage and write semester and yearly summary reports on usage and related issues regarding equipment and services. Ensure reports about usage are accurate and delivered by end of semester break in electronic format and include narrative analysis, equipment inventory, equipment status and availability, number of users in the lab, time of use, number of checkouts, etc. Compile yearly summary reports. Other Duties: Participate on committees and in meetings in the Department as assigned. Maintain currency of technical skills and knowledge through self-guided studies and by participating in conferences, workshops, and trainings as available. Functions of the Building Division include: Enforce building standards to safeguard life, health, and property through plan review and inspection procedures. Verify State contractor's licensing, workers' compensation insurance, and City business taxes and licenses prior to permit issuance. Verify project approvals and payment of fees to other City divisions, departments, and outside agencies. Submit building permit data electronically to Los Angeles County Tax Assessor's Office for faster allocation of City's share of property tax. FLEXIBLE BENEFIT PLAN (SECTION 125): Claremont offers a flexible benefit plan which allows employees to pay for certain expenses (child care, unreimbursed medical expenses, and insurance premiums) with pre-tax dollars. VACATION: Employees are entitled to a paid vacation of 96 hours following one year of employment. (employees may take accrued vacation after six months of employment). From the second year of employment until completion of the ninth year, employees are entitled to 120 hours of paid vacation. Beginning with the tenth year, and every year thereafter, employees are entitled to 160 hours of vacation. A one time, 80-hour longevity leave bonus is given to an employee on their service anniversary date at the 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, etc. years of service. New employees may bring with them up to 200 hours of accrued sick leave from their previous agency if their previous employer did not otherwise compensate them. HOLIDAYS/FLOATING HOLIDAY HOURS: All Unit employees shall receive 18.5 floating holiday hours each calendar year. In addition, employees shall be entitled to the following holidays with pay each calendar year. Each holiday shall be valued at 9.5 hours. An employee who is a new enrollment in PERS, is not coming from an agency with PERS reciprocity, or has a break in service greater than 6 months shall be enrolled in the Third Tier PERS benefit formula of 2.7% @ 57. Miscellaneous (Non-Sworn) PERS Plan Formula The City shall provide the 2.5% @ 55 PERS contract option to current miscellaneous employees hired prior to March 19, 2012. An employee who is hired by the City after March 19, 2012, from another Public Employees' Retirement (PERS) agency or agency with PERS reciprocity, or with a break in service of 6 months or less, shall receive the Second Tier PERS benefit formula of 2% @ 55. A returning Claremont City employee that was enrolled in PERS will receive the PERS benefit formula they received while previously employed with the City, irrespective of the break in service. Miscellaneous employees hired prior to March 19, 2012 shall contribute 8% towards their PERS member contributions. Position Summary This position reports directly to the Head of the Collection Management Services Department and works in close consultation with the LSS IV Metadata Management Coordinator. The department is responsible for cataloging newly acquired library materials, and for maintaining bibliographic and inventory records in Alma for display in the Library's discovery system, OneSearch. Materials may be monographic or serial and be presented in all formats, for example, printed books and continuing resources (serials and integrated resources), videos, DVDs, e-books, and other nonprint materials. Materials may be acquired in languages other than English. This position has chief responsibility for complex cataloging of special collections materials, curriculum collection materials, juvenile materials and other materials requiring adaptive cataloging. Adaptive cataloging may include deriving new bibliographic records, enhancing existing records, reviewing authorized name headings, and assigning subject headings and call numbers. EXAMINATION CONTENT The examination will consist of a computer based multiple-choice test weighted 100%, assessing writing clarity, vocabulary, spelling, writing grammar, reading comprehension, deductive and inductive reasoning, and data interpretation. JOB SUMMARY JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Animal Shelter Supervisor, performs safe and humane animal care and cleaning of shelter facilities; monitors animal health and alerts appropriate staff; ensures a welcoming environment for visitors and provides excellent customer service for adoptions, intakes/reclaims, and/or other related matters; provides animal enrichment and documents behaviors; conducts routine clerical work; assists the veterinary services staff with routine procedures and performs other duties as required. Oversees and trains shelter technicians, community service workers, and volunteers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Animal Care (feeding, watering, cleaning, veterinary attention): Feed and water animals daily; notify appropriate staff of any concerns or observations. Clean, disinfect, and maintain animal kennels, cages, and related equipment; wash bowls, bedding, utensils, and laundry; ensure all areas are re-stocked daily with needed supplies. Provide animal enrichment; document animal behaviors and qualities for adoption biographies. Maintain animal inventory and records; assist with reconciliation of cash, check, and credit transactions; and perform other detailed clerical tasks. Assist veterinary staff with bathing, medication, treatment, medical procedures, preventative care and surgery preparation/recovery; administer vaccinations, performs basic diagnostic tests and procedures, monitors and reports animal health to veterinary services. Oversee, train, provide guidance and assistance to assigned personnel. 2. Customer Service and Collaboration: Provide a welcoming environment and assist visitors with animal interactions, adoptions, lost and found pets, intakes/reclaims and other animal matters; process adoption, reclaim and transfer paperwork. Work with volunteers and create a welcoming environment; provide staff assistance for volunteer training, programs, and initiatives; celebrate volunteer successes and assist the volunteer coordinator with volunteer performance feedback and coaching opportunities. 3. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. DECISION MAKING Reviewing, approving, processing adoptions, receive and return animals from/to owners, ability to recognize animal behavior and health concerns and report accordingly, ability to understand/ accept shelter procedures, ability to determine animal characteristics, gender and breed identification. Oversee assigned personnel during daily cleaning and daily shelter operations; ensure accurate procedures are communicated and followed by team members, volunteers and CSRs. Reporting and communicating needs to peers, supervisors and management. Working with the public supporting adoptions, returns, intake; use of good judgment in difficult situations and those that fall outside normal procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (2) years work experience in animal care or a related field and in a team environment, including the supervision of others. A minimum of one (1) year of directly related customer service. Computer Skills - ability to learn shelter database, accurately update and maintain records. Ability to handle irate or distressed patrons in a calming and productive manner. Frequently deals with the public; communicates in person and over the telephone; provides information; explains animals control ordinances; obtains information concerning bites; handles irate or distressed citizens in a calm and effective manner. Assists people in the community in a professional, positive, friendly and helpful manner regarding pets at large, lost pets, and complaints that promotes productive resolutions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, walking and vision constantly; sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, hearing and talking frequently; crawling often. Working conditions involves exposure to aggressive animals, zoonotic diseases, loud noises, hazardous chemicals, odors, hot water, and extreme weather conditions. Possible rabies exposure (pre-exposure vaccines & booster offered at city’s expense). Protective Equipment: Gloves (latex, leather, or cloth), rubber boots, ear plugs or muffs, eye protection, animal handling equipment.
