TEMPORARY SERVICES REGISTRY PROGRAM: The Temporary Services Registry Program supports the Board of Supervisor's recently enacted Local and Target Worker Hire Policy. This policy utilizes local residents served and tracked by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Workforce Development Board Programs. This includes, but is not limited to, Veterans and their families, current or former foster youth, people experiencing homelessness, low-income, those with history of involvement with the Criminal Justice System and those without a high school diploma or GED. Registry employees will be used to assist County Departments with clerical and office support during workload peaks, or when a County department has a need for additional support. The length of an assignment can vary. Program participation is limited up to two years. Essential Job Functions What will I do as an Office Support Assistant? Process requests for supplies, service orders, invoices, timesheets and routine reports annually or by utilizing electronic systems. Maintain a variety of documents, records and logs by sorting, filing, photocopying, searching, verifying, and tracking information. DEFINITION: Assists laboratory personnel in the performance of standard laboratory tests on human and other specimens or assigns, trains, and reviews the work of a group of lower-level laboratory positions. Essential Job Functions Verifies patient's name and permanent file number by matching information on request form and specimen container. Logs in specimen information such as patient's name, permanent file number, and hospital ward number in laboratory log, worksheet or computer; routes specimen to appropriate workstation or laboratory for the standard tests to be performed. Processes specimens for subsequent analysis by licensed personnel by performing duties such as making primary inoculations of test material to be cultured and smearing and staining test specimens on laboratory glass slides and/or plates. Receives patient specimens such as blood, urine, feces, pulmonary fluids, gastro-intestinal fluids, body carry fluids, and sputum slides with standard laboratory request forms providing information such as patient's name and tests to be performed by licensed personnel.
