Full-time position available with KC Water Wastewater Treatment Division located at 7300 Hawthorne Road.
Salary Range: $4,945-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Work as team leader directing engineering and other technical activities involving project management for the planning, development, design, construction, implementation and maintenance of wastewater treatment and pumping facilities. This position will be responsible for assisting with short and long-term planning for wastewater capital improvement and maintenance programs. Will serve as assistant to the Wastewater Treatment Division Manager and liaison with Water Services Facilities Engineering Division and Kansas City General Services Department. Frequent consultation with division head, section heads, consultants, contractors and other Associates for specific projects is required in the planning, design, review of plans and specifications, and inspection of construction for compliance of capital and maintenance projects with design and construction contracts. Assignments received in conference with a professional superior and employees of this class are expected to exercise judgment and resolve technical problems. Work is reviewed by a professional superior through observation, conferences and evaluation of written reports, and plans for technical quality and adherence to project goals and contract documents. Necessary Skills: Have a good understanding of construction estimating procedures; good communication skills; have a working knowledge of computer-aided drafting and be proficient in most Microsoft computer programs; be able and willing to handle multiple tasks at the same time and be available and willing to handle emergencies.
REQUIRES 2 years progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. Preference given to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, minimum of 5 years managing design and construction projects in wastewater. Knowledge of construction contracts and their constituent components and working knowledge of plant facilities especially in the area of fixed and rotating assets.
