Job Description

Full-time position available with KC Water, Water Supply Treatment Plant Division located at 1 NW Briarcliff Road
Salary Range: $4,945-$10,581/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Responsibilities

Oversees the daily maintenance and operational functions of the treatment plant through: The coordination of production, treatment, distribution pumping, storage levels, inventory control and maintenance activities in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by Division Manager and/or KC Water Administrative Directives; Assist's in the management of distribution activities by monitoring valve operation and pumping efficiency. Assist in the planning and implementation of projects and programs directed towards treatment plant efficiency by: supporting engineering design and construction projects for the water treatment division; Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees; Review treatment process, production costs and product quality, and modifies production, pumping and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable and readiness operation of Division; Reviews operations against other similar organizations and plans and directs program to develop new and improved performance measures; Assists in the planning and implementation of operational budget. Communicates will all necessary stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulations coordination between functional work units including: Preparation or review of reports by others for regulatory submittal; Conduct research on current State and Federal regulations pertaining to the operations and maintenance of a water treatment; Involvement with the Emergency Response Team as first responders for chemical responses; Works with Safety, Environment, and Security Divisions to stay current with standards that effect the Division. Training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coordinating workload with other engineering units, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications

REQUIRES bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Engineering Sciences; and 4 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Manage staff in meeting performance goals. Knowledge in water or wastewater treatment and pumping processes. Preference given to applicants who manage surface water or groundwater treatment plant and/or manage pumping distribution process and/or experience in State and Federal regulations for water and wastewater systems and/or possess a water operator Class A treatment certification.
