Job Classification Overview - Senior Environmental Inspector (SEI) The Senior Environmental Inspector supervises environmental inspectors and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental protection programs. The Senior Environmental Inspector is the fourth in the four-level environmental inspection series and is responsible for supervising the other three levels. ESD is recruiting for two Senior Environmental Inspectors (SEI); one for the FOG Program and one for the IDDE/CON program. These positions plays a key role in the Watershed Protection Division's Environmental Enforcement group. Environmental Enforcement - Fats, Oils, and Grease Inspection Program This group is responsible for an inspection program focused on commercial food service establishments with an emphasis on controls for Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG). This program is required under both the City's Stormwater NPDES permit and the Sanitary Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP). The Environmental Enforcement program implements several stormwater inspection programs, which include inspections at San José industrial and commercial businesses, construction sites, residential sites, and stormwater treatment control measures for implementation of practices that protect stormwater quality and respond to incidents of illegal discharge to the storm sewer system. These stormwater inspection programs are required by provisions in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Municipal Regional Permit (MRP). In addition, the program implements the Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) program which is required under the City's Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP). Job Classification Overview - Senior Environmental Inspector (SEI) The Senior Environmental Inspector supervises environmental inspectors and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental protection programs. The Senior Environmental Inspector is the fourth in the four-level environmental inspection series and is responsible for supervising the other three levels.
