The City of West Sacramento is seeking energetic, qualified individuals for the position of Assistant/Associate/Senior Civil Engineer in the Capital Projects Department.
An official City of West Sacramento application form must be filled out, in its entirety. It is the applicant's responsibility to explain his/her qualifications fully and clearly. In addition, applicants must submit a resume and complete the required supplemental questionnaire. Incomplete information on the application, resume and/or supplemental questionnaire may be cause for disqualification. Application packages will be reviewed and screened for qualifications. Depending upon the number of qualified candidates, an oral panel interview may or may not be held, date to be determined if held. The top candidates will be referred to the Department for further consideration.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skill. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Assistant Engineer: Comparable to two (2) years of experience as a Junior Engineer.
Associate Civil Engineer: At least four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience. Public works/municipal engineering experience is highly desirable.
Senior Civil Engineer: At least six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience. Experience must include four (4) years in the public works/municipal engineering field.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Assistant Engineer: Valid certificate as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) required.
Associate Civil Engineer: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a professional civil engineer. Must obtain PE in the State of California within one (1) year of appointment.
Senior Civil Engineer: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a professional civil engineer. Must obtain PE in the State of California within one (1) year of appointment.
