The multiple-choice test will be proctored and administered on-line during a single session. SELECTION PROCESS Examination Weight: Multiple-Choice Test - 100% The examination will consist entirely of a multiple-choice test administered and proctored on-line. In the on-line multiple-choice test, the following competencies may be evaluated: Mathematics; Teamwork; Written Communication; Reading Comprehension, including knowledge of: electrical drawings; Safety Focus, including knowledge of: Cal/OSHA regulations and safety principles and procedures regarding working near energized lines or equipment, maintaining a clean work environment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment; CPR and first aid procedures; hazardous energy control procedures, such as Lockout/Blockout and isolating points of hazards; Cal/OSHA procedures for confined space entry; traffic control procedures; fall protection safety equipment and procedures; Mechanical Aptitude, including the knowledge of: hand and power tools; principles of mechanics, such as hydro flow, air flow, and valve positions; Electrical Understanding, including the knowledge of: electrical equipment, such as motors, generators, pumps, actuated valves, and control systems; electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code and Cal/OSHA requirements and state safety orders related to electrical work; types of electrical installations; common electrical problems encountered and how to resolve them; direct current (DC) electrical voltage sources; alternating current (AC) theory, including variations in voltage and current, connecting circuits in series or parallel, variations in phase or frequency, and induction effects; programmable control systems; electrical meters; and other necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. The multiple-choice test will be proctored and administered on-line during a single session. Candidates invited to participate in the on-line multiple-choice test will be able to take the test as instructed from a remote location using a computer with a webcam and a reliable internet connection.
