DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the trainee level class in the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator series. License or Certificate: Possession of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator In Training Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board within 60 days of employment. The Wastewater Plant Supervisor for the Public Works Department, Regional Water Quality Control Plant will oversee crews and shifts in various disciplines of Wastewater Treatment, including preliminary, primary, secondary biological nutrient removal through conventional activated sludge and membrane bioreactor, conventional tertiary, chlorination/dechlorination, anaerobic mesophilic digestion, organics receiving, biomethane production, solids dewatering and process control of the various treatment unit processes. WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use; Required to work hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; Required to respond to emergencies and on-call situations; Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.; May be required to operate a State vehicle; Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays; Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures; Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
