Notes to Applicants Austin Energy seeks an IT Network Consultant to join the IT Data Center team. This position will collaborate with the IT Network LAN and Enterprise Architectures teams to recommend new technologies and solutions and assist with capacity planning and budget forecasting. They will provide advanced technical support for all aspects and technologies that comprise the data center infrastructure, including servers, storage area networks ( SAN ), VMWare, backup infrastructure, etc., in compliance with security policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements. This position requires on-call rotation to support 24-hour utility operations and travel between local sites to survey in support of the integrated network solutions. The primary duties of the position: Contribute to the identification of new technology and the design and implementation of enterprise projects. Lead and guide (mentor) junior team members using motivational and collaborative skills. Lead compliance duties such as security patch assessments, quarterly cyber assessment reviews, and verification of electronic access privileges. Installation of physical hardware and cabling. Build, administer, manage, and decommission systems (Windows, AIX , Linux, SAN , backup, DHCP , Infoblox, DNS , AppViewX, etc.) in compliance with security policies, procedures, and standards, and regulatory requirements ( NERC , FERC , NIST , etc.). Troubleshoot advanced systems in a complex environment and assist in cross-functional system troubleshooting, which may include routing, switching, event analysis, and firewalls. Travel to multiple work locations and participate in an on-call rotation within the 24-hour utility operations.
