Notes to Applicants The Austin Public Library seeks a Maintenance Worker Leader for our Facilities Services Division. The individual will monitor repairs and maintenance of our facilities, manage and oversee our HVAC systems throughout the Library, and oversee the work of warehouse and Maintenance services personnel. The individual must have a solid understanding of all things related to maintenance including plumbing, electrical carpentry, and other crafts. The position will have responsibilities related to hiring, training, and performance reviews. Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance. Repairs and replaces electric plugs and cords. Performs minor repairs to tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, etc. Performs semi-skilled carpentry work in the construction and repair of walls, ceilings, doors, etc. Installs and/or replace floor and ceramic tiles Drives vehicles as needed. Moves furniture, file cabinets, equipment, etc using hand dollies. Performs basic service on pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, etc repack, change oil and filters, lubricate, etc. Operates drills, buffers, grinders, sanders, etc. Operates various power saws, i.e., radial arm, skill, etc. Operates acetylene cutting torch, welder, etc. Performs simple plumbing installations and repairs i.e., install and repair faucets, unclog drains, replace valves, etc. Paints varnishes, and/or seal walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, equipment, etc using brushes, rollers, air sprayers, etc. Hammers nails and stakes. Installs door closers, kick plates, locks, etc. Measures using tapes, transits, levels, etc. Reads profiles and blueprints Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised: Train and lead employees.
