Summary

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for a Probation Analyst in the Probation Department. Under general direction, collects and analyzes data to produce meaningful information; prepares, compiles, and sorts information and/or documents for processing; performs complex data analysis in response to reporting requests utilizing business intelligence software programs  or tools to query, validate, format, and organize structured and unstructured data; define and create new data models and visualizations to ensure information needs are met; research and apply new or expanded knowledge in the criminal justice field by exploring and defining problems, planning the approach for the study, analyzing data, interpreting rules, documenting and reporting findings and recommending program and technological changes; and performs related work as assigned. This is a stand-alone journey-level criminal analyst classification. This position reports directly to the Chief Probation Officer and may receive direction from the Assistant Chief Probation Officer.

Job Description

Examples of Duties :

  • Oversees all day-to-day operations of the Probation Case Management System (CMS), as well as other local databases and datasets, including data integrity, maintenance, user access, reporting and training.
  • Plan, organize and conduct research and evaluation studies for the Department’s programs and services, including the implementation of AB 109 (2011 Public Safety Realignment Act).
  • Provide ongoing improvements, maintenance, and support of the Probation case-management software, system data, business processes, including system access and security configurations.
  • Develops and executes strategic initiatives for Probation systems and provides project management.
  • Provide ongoing improvements, maintenance, and support of the Probation case-management software, system data; business processes; including system access and security configurations.
  • Develop and document procedures for analysis and production of all probation analysis reports; ensure reports are produced timely and in a format that will be most usable by management and for funding purposes.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports, presentations, maps, or charts based on research, collection, and analysis of intelligence data and present results and recommendations to stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Management, Statistics or a related field and two years of experience data collection, data analysis, conducting research and making recommendations for the solutions of complex problems. Candidates with strong experience who lack the degree are encouraged to apply.

Preferred: In addition to the minimum, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or a Data Analysis Certificate preferably Crime and Intelligence Analysis, and experience with business intelligence software programs or tools, i.e. SQL, Visual Basic for Applications and additional 5 years of experience as previously defined, within criminal justice organizations or programs.
