The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for a Probation Analyst in the Probation Department. Under general direction, collects and analyzes data to produce meaningful information; prepares, compiles, and sorts information and/or documents for processing; performs complex data analysis in response to reporting requests utilizing business intelligence software programs or tools to query, validate, format, and organize structured and unstructured data; define and create new data models and visualizations to ensure information needs are met; research and apply new or expanded knowledge in the criminal justice field by exploring and defining problems, planning the approach for the study, analyzing data, interpreting rules, documenting and reporting findings and recommending program and technological changes; and performs related work as assigned. This is a stand-alone journey-level criminal analyst classification. This position reports directly to the Chief Probation Officer and may receive direction from the Assistant Chief Probation Officer.
The Probation Department provides a wide range of community supervision to support Public Safety. Compliance with Criminal Justice law is one of our most critical functions. We work diligently to ensure we are compliant in this quickly changing landscape.
Examples of Duties :
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Management, Statistics or a related field and two years of experience data collection, data analysis, conducting research and making recommendations for the solutions of complex problems. Candidates with strong experience who lack the degree are encouraged to apply.
Preferred: In addition to the minimum, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or a Data Analysis Certificate preferably Crime and Intelligence Analysis, and experience with business intelligence software programs or tools, i.e. SQL, Visual Basic for Applications and additional 5 years of experience as previously defined, within criminal justice organizations or programs.
