ABOUT THE POSITION The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Traffic Systems Technician I/II position. The position conducts field installation, maintenance, and repair of existing traffic signals, pedestrian flashers, and school flasher facilities. The ideal candidate will be a part of the Traffic Signal Unit and report to the Traffic Systems Supervisor. Traffic Systems Technician I: $27.29 - $42.28 Hourly Traffic Systems Technician II: $29.44 - $45.66 Hourly The Traffic Systems Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Traffic Systems Technician II. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Traffic Systems Technician I - Equivalent to graduation from high school, and successful completion of a Technician or Technologist Diploma Program, AND two (2) years of skilled full-time experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and electrical equipment. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Responsible for the general administration of the Inspection Division of the Engineering Department. Performs field and technical construction inspection work for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other public works projects and programs. General Description and Classification Standards Plans, organizes and supervises the activities of wastewater collection operations for a crew. Supervises crew duties to include repairing pipe, installing sewers, making decisions on job sites, and supervising crew members. Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Parking & Transportation, Community Service Specialist I receive day-to-day work direction from a Lead Community Service Specialist II. The incumbent is often the first presence a visitor will encounter when coming to campus and they play a critical role in supporting the mission of University Police Department and the University as a whole. Part-time employees shall accrue vacation leave at a pro-rated amount of full-time entitlement based on the number of hours that they are scheduled to work. Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements shall accrue vacation as provided in the applicable agreement. Regular employees in the City Service shall accrue vacation credit at the following rates per pay period, calculated from the date of employment of each employee: For 0 - 5 years of service (12 days): 40 hour per week employees - 3.70 hours per biweekly pay period For >5 to 15 years of service (17 days): 40 hour per week employees - 5.24 hours per biweekly pay period For >15 or more years of service (20 days): 40 hour per week employees - 6.16 hours per biweekly pay period SICK LEAVE WITH PAY Employees shall be entitled to accrue sick leave with pay in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Service Commission. ACCIDENT WITH PAY LEAVE The Amended Section 4.4 of the Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption and shall apply to occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring on and after date of adoption. Occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring before such date will be governed by the Ordinance in effect at the time of the date of injury or disease. PREGNANCY LEAVE A) Pregnancy shall be treated the same as any other temporary physical disability. B) An employee on pregnancy leave shall use accumulated and unused regular sick leave time and then (unless granted use of special sick leave) shall be on leave without pay, unless the employee chooses to use any accumulated and unused annual leave. C) An employee going on pregnancy leave shall give written notice to her department head with appropriate medical verification. Before returning to work from pregnancy leave, the individual will provide appropriate medical documentation releasing the employee to return to work, as is required for any individual who has been on leave for a temporary physical disability. Any day designated as a holiday by City Council.2. When any legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered a legal holiday.3.
