The Watershed Protection (WSP) Division provides services that support the City's efforts to protect water quality in local creeks and the Bay. These services are integral to the City's management of both wastewater and stormwater and for compliance with the City's stormwater permit, wastewater permit, and Sewer System Management Plan. The Watershed Protection Division is comprised of more than 100 employees with four key functions: Stormwater Management, Environmental Enforcement, Industrial Pretreatment, and Laboratory Services. The Environmental Enforcement program implements several stormwater inspection programs, which include inspections at San José industrial and commercial businesses, construction sites, residential sites, and stormwater treatment control measures for implementation of practices that protect stormwater quality and respond to incidents of illegal discharge to the storm sewer system.
