The position reports directly to the SOAR SSS-HS Project Director and functions under general supervision but with a high degree of autonomy. The advisor will: collaborate with the SOAR SSS-HS Project Director and Academic Advising Coordinator regarding the administration, coordination and management of the project and all academically related policies and procedures; provide GE, CHSS pre-major/major, probationary, career, personal or other types of one-on-one or group advising/counseling; create educational plans; be able to utilize technologically innovative methods of advising/counseling; create and conduct appropriate workshops for SOAR SSS-HS FTFs and sophomores interested in health science related majors; liaison with CHSS and campus units; identify and recruit new and continuing at-risk CHSS students and coordinate with college and campus resources in providing intensive services; outreach and develop relationships with local high schools and community based organizations; collaborate with the SOAR TRIO HSS 110 FYE course instructor; lead advising groups, and other duties to be defined. Coordinate and manage Student Success initiatives Identify and recruit the most at risk new CHSS FTF students each year, those students that come from low income backgrounds who are the first in their family to attend college. Outreach and develop longstanding relationships with local high schools, community based organizations, TRiO programs and other organizations where incoming at risk CHSS FTF students can be identified and recruited. Job Summary The Executive Director (ED) for Academic Programs and Planning reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Innovations and Programs (AVP-AIP). In this capacity, the ED-APP is responsible for integrating the planning efforts that are mobilized by program review and localized in the units reporting to the ED-APP. Furthermore, the ED-APP connects these efforts with the university's strategic planning. The ED-APP has direct responsibility for the following: • Academic program planning, including management of the approval process and assistance to colleges/departments in the development of all degree, subprogram, blended 4+1, certificate, or other academic proposals. • Academic program modifications, such as elevation, degree title, CIP code, degree designation, and modality changes, • Academic program suspensions and discontinuations. • Department name change proposals. • Developing and implementing of academic policies consistent with Cal Poly, the CSU Chancellor's Office, Title 5 and other requirements, as well as complying with CSU accountability reporting. • Managing program reviews, program accreditations, certifications, and the university's regional WSCUC accreditation. • Overseeing the administration and continuous improvement of university-level assessment and support for program-level assessment within Academic Affairs. • In collaboration with AVP-AIP oversee Associate Dean Council meetings. • Serving on Academic Senate and other University committees, as assigned by the Provost’s Office, and generally promoting effective shared governance. • Working with various entities on campus to continuously improve the program review and assessment processes. • Overseeing the preparation of Cal Poly’s annual CSU Academic Master Plan. • Overseeing the approval process for new or removed Associate Degree for Transfer pathways. • Overseeing the CSU degree, transfer model curriculum, and WSCUC databases. Job Summary The Executive Director (ED) for Academic Programs and Planning reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Innovations and Programs (AVP-AIP). Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Residential Life for University Housing Services (UHS), the Housing Behavioral Case Manager serves as a point for University Housing Services response to students experiencing varying degrees of need/support and/or distress. The Housing Behavioral Case Manager serves as a primary resource for managing reports of behavioral concerns in the residence halls and apartments as well as responding to inquiries and providing appropriate follow-up. Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Residential Life for University Housing Services (UHS), the Housing Behavioral Case Manager serves as a point for University Housing Services response to students experiencing varying degrees of need/support and/or distress. The incumbent is readily accessible and provides consultations for staff, students, and family members who are concerned about a distressed University Housing Services resident. The Housing Behavioral Case Manager serves as a primary resource for managing reports of behavioral concerns in the residence halls and apartments as well as responding to inquiries and providing appropriate follow-up. Position Summary (Classified as: Student Services Professional IV) Full-time position available on or after April 15, 2024 for in the Warrior Cross Cultural Center. The Student Services Professional IV performs highly complex professional Student Services work in reviewing the most difficult individual, group or organizational problems, developing and recommending courses of action, and implementing proposed solutions. Incumbents in this classification typically utilize a combination of high-level analytical skills and high-level interpersonal skills in working on complex problems from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage. This is the first level where assignments regularly impact other Student Services areas and where the scope of assignments is program-wide. Student Services Professionals are responsible for providing a wide variety of professional services and activities ranging from preadmission to the university through post graduation. The purpose of these services and activities is to assist students in making successful progress toward their degree objectives; to provide learning experiences which supplement those in the classroom; and to assist and encourage students to utilize effectively the knowledge, skills and abilities learned during their university careers. Minimum Qualifications Education : Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and job-related conflict resolutions. Experience : Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems. (A master’s degree in counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job-related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career or counseling.)
