The Position Under general supervision, the Communicable Disease Investigator performs a variety of duties in the County program for the control of sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and other communicable diseases. These duties may include: interviewing patients and /or suspects to identify contacts and settings of potential transmission; conducting field investigations; reviewing and analyzing investigations; coordinating with private physicians and laboratories to enlist and maintain cooperation; supporting patient treatment compliance; conducting information and educational presentations; and other related duties as required. This classification is assigned to the Public Health Communicable Disease Unit of the Health and Human Services Agency. The incumbent in this classification is responsible for the discovery, control and investigation of existing or suspected cases of communicable disease and interpreting, explaining, and enforcing existing policies and regulations pertaining to the investigation of communicable disease contacts. The classification involves obtaining and utilizing specific information of a highly confidential nature. B ilingual Spanish skills required. This recruitment is being conducted to fill 1 (one) full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year. Position Requirements Experience and Education: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Experience : One-year experience in the health care field which involved interviewing clients to obtain confidential or personal history information as the primary element of the duties performed is desired. Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in biologic science, public health, or a related field. License or Certificate:* Possession of a valid California Driver's License. *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
