Description Conducts and supervises inspections of roadways, bridges and new development projects for compliance with County standards, provides guidance and makes recommendations. Provides representation for the County at the individual job sites. Conducts tests and analyses of construction materials. Prepares reports and conducts meetings with the public and property owners. Department Summary The History department at San José State University ( https://www.sjsu.edu/history/index.html ) is a vibrant center of learning for nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate History majors, plus hundreds more undergraduate students enrolled in History survey courses that fulfill General Education and American Institutions graduation requirements. The department has nine full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty and ten part-time or full-time lecturers. We offer courses that cover most of the world and all periods of time. We are always looking for qualified History instructors who can teach lower- division survey courses (MA required, PhD preferred) and occasional upper-division courses (PhD required) as well. Brief Description of Duties for Lecturer A Position We are seeking qualified lecturers to teach and supervise SSED 184Z: Phase II Student Teaching on a part-time, temporary basis. This is a 4-unit, graduate course offered through the History Department and the College of Education/Teacher Education Department that fulfills the Phase II Student Teaching requirement to earn a CA teaching credential. Candidates must have culturally diverse teaching experience and show commitment to the academic success of all students. THE POSITION The City of Sacramento is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer for the Department of Public Works. This position will be part of the Engineering Services Division which is responsible for delivering Capital Improvement Projects (CIP’s) for new and infill transportation infrastructure throughout the City. This individual will be responsible for supporting as well as self performing the design delivery of transportation and civil infrastructure CIP’s in the public right of way as stand alone, or as part of a larger transportation design project. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the entry-level professional engineer classification. Incumbents perform less complex office and field civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering work under general supervision in preparation for advancement to the journey level of Assistant Engineer. Assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Upon completion of a twelve-month training period, incumbents will be advanced to the next level of Assistant Engineer if their training performance is successful or released (terminated) if performance is unacceptable. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision is provided by a higher level professional engineer. Technical or functional supervision may also be provided by higher level professional engineer positions. Assignment may require indirect supervision of subprofessional engineering positions.
