Job Description and Duties PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I - COASTAL FIELD DIVISION / SAN LUIS OBISPO COAST / SAN SIMEON The reporting location for this position is Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument in San Simeon, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Chief III. The Park Maintenance Worker I works under the direction and lead of the Water/Sewer Plant Supervisor and the supervision of the Maintenance Chief III of the San Luis Obispo Coast District. This position is a great opportunity to work with some very skilled individuals in a beautiful part of the State. The incumbent will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance and repair of the districts water distribution, treatment and wastewater systems. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Job Description and Duties FORESTRY AIDE (SEASONAL) - GOLD FIELDS DISTRICT / FOLSOM LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. The Forestry Aide works under the Folsom Sector Maintenance Chief I, with direction and guidance from the Worker ll, Worker I, PMA or Heavy Equipment Operator. This position is intermittent and may either work up to 189 days or 1500 hours in a 12-month period. Working weekends, nights, and overtime hours may be required. The weekly schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The Forestry Aide works under the Folsom Sector Maintenance Chief I, with direction and guidance from the Worker ll, Worker I, PMA or Heavy Equipment Operator. The Forestry Aide is a higher-level maintenance crewmember than the standard crewmember (Maintenance Aide). The position is experienced and proficient in crewmember duties and may assist with on-the-job training of entry level crewmembers and leading maintenance crews, volunteer, conservation crew work projects. The FA position will primarily perform manual labor to restore, protect, and enhance CA State Park’s natural resources, and trail system, often in remote locations away from roads and facilities. This job requires working outdoors in inclement weather and smoky conditions related to prescribed fire. Chainsaw and Basic Firefighter training must be attended when available. Current basic fire fighter certification (FF Type II), GPS/GIS, chain saw use and tree felling experience are a plus. This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license.
