Under supervision, guards inmates in County jail facilities in accordance with established regulations and procedures. May guard prisoners in transit between jail, courtroom, prison or other points. Employee will maintain the highest level of security possible while ensuring safe treatment of all inmates including the protection of their rights within the correctional setting.
Work involves supervision of inmates within his/her assigned area. Officer will maintain order and security through fair and impartial application of White Pine County Jail Policies and Procedures. Employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing assigned tasks. The employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Must complete P.O.S.T. Certified Law Enforcement Academy Category III within twelve months of hire. Possess a valid Nevada Drivers License or ability to obtain one. Must be 21 years of age, no prior felony or gross misdemeanor convictions and possess good moral character as determined by a thorough background check. Knowledge of recording keeping and have good interpersonal skills by using tact, patience and courtesy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must complete P.O.S.T. Certified Law Enforcement Academy Category III within twelve months of hire. Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid Nevada Driver License. Employee is required to have a pre-employment, post-offer physical examination. Employee may be subject to subsequent physical examinations to ensure he/she meets job-related physical requirements. Must have no prior felony convictions or gross misdemeanor convictions and possess good moral character as determined by a thorough background check. Must submit fingerprints for purpose of a criminal record check and be found free from any physical, emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the powers of a peace officer.
