Job Description

Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, the elderly, and other individuals within local communities and institutions. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) - Adult Protective Services in Reno, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The incumbent will be responsible for investigating reports of elder and vulnerable persons abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and isolation in the communities and long-term care facilities within Washoe, Lyon, Churchill, Carson, Douglas, Storey and Pershing counties. Social workers must initiate investigations within 3 working days of receipt of these reports per NRS 200.5093.
