Job Description

The Morton Museum acts as the gateway to Collierville's Historic District. Begin at the Museum, take-in the exhibitions, historic objects, and breathtaking architecture. Then continue your visit by strolling down Main Street, where you'll be greeted by a Rockwellian Scene: a beautifully landscaped Town Square with gazebo, one-of-a-kind boutique shops and dining experiences, and a historic train depot.

The purpose of this classification is to perform responsible professional and administrative work for the development, execution, and management of the policies, programs and initiatives of the Morton Museum of Collierville History. This position serves as the public face of the Morton Museum and assures that the Museum’s mission is carried out with the highest professional standards and in a manner that meets a wide range of audience needs and expectations.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree with major course work in History, Art History, Museum or American Studies, or a closely related field; supplemented by two (2) years responsible experience in a professional museum setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

SPECIAL REQUISITES: First-aid and C.P.R. certification required within six (6) months of employment. Experience in grant writing, educational program planning, docent training, public speaking, Public relations and marketing, and donor development and fundraising preferred but not required. Incumbent may be required to work late hours, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.

LICENSES: Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License is required at time of hire
