San Mateo Medical Center is the hidden jewel of San Mateo County. We are a fully-accredited 509-bed acute care hospital whose commitment lies in supporting the healthcare needs of the County's diverse cultures.

We are seeking an experienced professional to perform routine and complex imaging procedures in Cardiac Sonography, while providing a safe environment for patients and fellow employees. As an extra help Echo Cardiographer, you will be assigned to the Radiology Division where you will perform various patient-related tasks in addition to image acquisition.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience performing standard echo cardiograms, exercise stress echoes, dobutamine stress echoes, contrast material enhanced procedures and be able to assist with TEEprocedures. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for preparing and instructing patients for self-preparation prior to procedures, scheduling patients, data input for orders and billing, and report processing. As a result, the successful candidate must possess good organizational and communication skills and the ability to follow through on tasks to completion.

NOTE:This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis.Some extra help positions are eligible for benefitsundertheAffordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain the equipment and supplies used in echo cardiography.
  • Obtain standardizedcardiac images of patient.
  • Recognize and record appropriate anatomy and pathology using cardiac sonographicequipment.
  • Select the appropriate image or mode to provide the cardiologist with necessary informationthrough M-Mode, dopplerand two-dimensional images.
  • Recognize gross abnormalities that could be life threatening and notify thecardiologist immediately.
  • Perform bedside examinations as needed.

Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Applicable cardiac imaging equipment; regional and gross anatomy and physiology of the human body;principles, methods and techniques associated withcardiac sonography.

Skill/Ability to:
Follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully with patients and physicians; assist in instructing and training others; administer first aid and CPR; and position patients and make sharp, clear images of designated areas.

Licensure/Certification for Imaging Specialist -Echo Cardiography:
Registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
