Salary: $42,852 - $64,278
Under general supervision, supports the Galveston Police Department by performing tactical, administrative and strategic crime analysis to assist law enforcement personnel with criminal investigations and planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activity. Studies criminal patterns in an effort to predict the time, place and day that a crime might occur by way of computer databases and other resources. Applies analytical techniques to determine potential risks to law enforcement, public health, critical infrastructure, and key resources. Builds and creates maps incorporating crime data; possesses knowledge of and assists with UCR/NIBRS coding and reporting. MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS: A bacheloru0027s degree in criminal justice or a related field; AND 2 years’ experience in a relevant capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience in the following will be considered: Experience using relational or analytic databases such as: Accurint, TLO, NDEX, Linx, and/or intelligence databases. Experience vetting raw information to determine source reliability and content validity. Experience in producing tactical and strategic assessment. Proficient with current research methods on social media sites and open source tools. A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
