Overview JBT Airport Services is an industry leading, dedicated provider of Maintenance Services to Airlines throughout North America. Our maintenance services cover the full range of service from 24 hour, 7 day per week on-site service and emergency call out, to periodic maintenance of equipment based on technical visits quarterly, semi-annually, and/or annually with supplementary emergency support and call out as needed. This position is located at the Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California . Responsibilities Provide daily oversight and direction of hourly employee teams to ensure operational excellence; including personnel scheduling, work order, safety, and productivity plans, material availability, and the handling and resolution of employee issues. Responsible for the smooth operation of baggage and material handling systems. Monitor projects to ensure procedures, materials and equipment installation to comply with approved project plans and specifications, Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders during operation and in cases of breakdown. Create backup plans in case of breakdown. Commit to deliver performance improvements. Liaison with Site Manager on the impact of operations in the delivery of day-to-day maintenance activities. Examine, re-engineering operations; implementing new strategies and procedures. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Provide support to the Site Manager in overseeing operational performance. Comply with company safety program and trainings Perform other duties as assigned or needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of Baggage Handling System Manager, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The primary work environment is similar to an office environment. However, the Baggage Handling System Manager must have the ability to conduct business in outside weather conditions, near moving machinery parts; on an active Airport ramp; near vehicles and jet aircraft. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with a preference for higher education and/or specialized training/certifications. Valid Driver's License. 5+ years' experience in the area of airport maintenance services is preferred. 5+ years of baggage handling systems and/or airport ground systems experience preferred. 3+ years supervisory experience required. Familiarity with airport equipment (baggage handling, boarding bridges, PC Air, 400 Hz, ground support equipment) maintenance a plus. Mechanical and electrical experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of federal, state and local codes and regulations. Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport. Ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift including weekends and holidays in a 24/7 work environment.
