For more information about SJC, visit http://www.flysanjose.com .San José Mineta International Airport is currently recruiting to fill a Senior Electrician position within the Facilities and Engineering Division. The Airport Electrical Trade Division is responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvements to the Airport's buildings and terminals, the associated grounds, and the airfield on a seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day operational schedule. The Senior Electrician position is a working lead position that requires advanced knowledge and experience with maintenance and repair work, including electrical safety programs and procedures. This position will include responsibility for all Airport assets, including principal responsibility for the airfield lighting and control systems. Additional responsibilities include serving as a lead to staff; assigning and monitoring work; providing direction; operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems at the Airport; fabricating and installing electrical systems and components; reviewing work orders and purchasing electrical supplies, including coordinating and managing electrical projects at the Airport; responding to emergencies as needed; and performing work on the card reader system, building management system, vehicle gates, fire system, generators, automatic doors, roll up doors, roadway and parking lot lights, runway and ramp lights, and all other Airport electrical systems as needed. This position is intended for day and/or swing shifts and may also be required to work on weekends and holidays, as well as serving standby. Salary range for this classification is: $120,578.64 - $146,546.40. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience. (These qualifications are typically required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted.) Education and Experience Completion of an approved apprenticeship program AND experience equivalent to two (2) years of experience as a journey level Electrician. Acceptable Substitution Documented proof of completion of 8,500 hours of both course work and experience in all of the areas covered in the State of California Electrician Apprenticeship Standards may be substituted for completion of a recognized Electrician Apprenticeship program. These areas include residential wiring, commercial and industrial wiring, intercom and signals, controls, underground work, trouble shooting, finishing and fixture hanging, solid state controls, and stock and inventory. Completion of the State of California Electrician Certification exam will be accepted as proof of completion of 8,500 hours of electrical work experience. Required Licensing (such as driver's license, certifications, etc.) Possession of a valid State of California driver's license. As a condition of employment in some designated positions, possession of a valid State of California Class A or B driver's license with applicable endorsements may be required in the performance of job duties.
