ABOUT THE POSITION The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Part Time Program Assistant. Incumbents in this position will work in assigned Service Groups to obtain entry-level experience in the wastewater industry. Incumbents will work with professional level staff to acquire the knowledge and skills to assist them in becoming familiar with the wastewater treatment industry. This recruitment will be used to fill current and futures vacancies at the Las Vegas, Nevada (Flamingo Water Resource Center) worksite location. Automotive Fleet (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD Fleet Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of basic and technical work in automotive fleet. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain equipment, perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of an automotive fleet service group. Wastewater Plant Operations (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD WW Plant Operations Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in operations. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain equipment, monitor flow, learn wastewater treatment processes, conduct plant sampling, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of a large wastewater treatment facility. Wastewater Collection Systems (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD WW Collection Systems Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work in collection system operations. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain a combination vacuum and jet-rod truck, assist with odor control maintenance and operations, support construction and repair activities, help with condition assessment, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of a wastewater collection systems. Centralized Maintenance/Lift Stations (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD Maintenance Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in maintenance operations. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain equipment, learn wastewater treatment processes, and carry out electrical, HVAC, facility and mechanical maintenance or other activities related to the successful operation and maintenance of a large wastewater treatment facility and pumping stations. Wastewater Plant Operations (Program Assistant) Learns and performs the operation of pumps, valves, and other equipment by computer, hand or mechanical means to regulate the flow of wastewater through various preliminary, primary, secondary and tertiary treatment processes; Learns and performs the operation of solid processing equipment to separate liquids from solids; Performs daily rounds in the treatment process area of the plant; Inspects plant equipment and reports any failures or operating difficulties to the lead operator; May initiate work orders and request repairs in the computerized maintenance management system; Performs collection of samples of wastewater, scum, grit, sludge, and other materials; Properly records chain of custody information for samples delivered to the laboratory; Assists and may run process lab testing to determine daily efficiency of treatment processes and online instrumentation; Performs daily reading of meters, gauges, charts and instruments and documents all required information; Receives and unloads bulk chemicals, some of which are hazardous; Learns to interpret material safety data sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used on site; Performs general housekeeping duties and performs routine preventive maintenance of plant equipment, grounds, and facilities; and Performs record keeping functions such as logging information regarding plant operation, test results from process lab, maintenance work performed and unusual operating conditions in a logbook and or database. Wastewater Collection Systems (Program Assistant) Assists with the operation of high-pressure jet rodding and vacuum equipment to clean sewers and storm drains, hydro-excavate around underground utilities and support other cleaning activities; Assists with all construction activities associated with pipeline and manhole repairs in roadways and easements, including paving; Performs heavy physical labor involved with loading/unloading supplies, equipment and materials; Assists in setting up and breaking down temporary traffic safety patterns, as directed; Assists in the operation and maintenance of odor control facilities; Installs and removes odor control manhole inserts and replaces carbon media; Performs basic maintenance of equipment, pumps and mechanical equipment; Assists in the operation of a closed-circuit camera truck to televise sanitary sewer lines; and Learns basic maintenance of all Collection Systems equipment. Salary Information The annual salary range for Wastewater Mechanic I is $78,998.40- $96,012.80. The annual salary range for Wastewater Mechanic II is $87,443.20 - $106,600.00. Wastewater Mechanic - Maintenance Division Wastewater Mechanics for the Maintenance Division are responsible for performing the full range of technical and mechanical tasks associated with the preventive and corrective maintenance of wastewater plant machinery and equipment. In this job, you may assist Sr. Wastewater Mechanics in the more difficult and complex duties. You will have the opportunity to attend training to understand the equipment better and keep current on trends. Mechanics are expected to work well independently and on teams. The following is a partial list of Wastewater Mechanics typical responsibilities in the Maintenance section: Troubleshoots and repairs wastewater buildings and equipment such as pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, grit removal equipment, conveyors, mixers, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, and other equipment. Fabricates and modifies parts as needed for system operations associated with shop equipment drill presses, ironworker, band saws, pedestal grinders, hydraulic shear, and knowledge of welding. Operates bridge cranes, chain falls, lever hoists and all associated rigging. Interprets drawings, service manuals and parts manuals. Performs equipment inspections at scheduled intervals to detect the possibility of malfunctions. Determines spare parts inventory levels and initiates parts replacement; stocks replacement parts. THE POSITION The City of Ventura's Public Works Department is accepting applications for the position of Senior Civil Engineer . The Senior Civil Engineer is a key member of the Engineering Design and Construction Division and is a vital part of the Design team. The current vacancy reports to the Design and Construction Manager and leads the Water/ Wastewater Design Section which includes support from three Assistant/Associate/Civil Engineers. The section supports a variety of capital improvement design projects for Ventura Water, the City's water and wastewater utility. Regular collaboration occurs between project coordinators assigned by the Ventura Water and the Senior Civil Engineer. Project work is local and required travel outside the Ventura Water service area is infrequent. WHAT YOU'LL DO The Senior Civil Engineer supervises the design and delivery of major capital improvement projects, including the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for complicated City projects related to sewers, water systems, or related public works projects. The Senior Civil Engineer position assigned to the Water and Wastewater Design section will design, manage and oversee delivery of select Capital Improvement Program design projects including those in the water and wastewater program areas. The position is a working supervisor managing both assigned project workload and overseeing the project work completed by subordinate staff and consultants. The position directly oversees the delivery of all Water and Wastewater projects being administered by the Public Works Department. This includes pre-design, planning, design and construction phases. The incumbent may also called upon to provide on-call technical engineering expertise and support to water and wastewater operations staff. Typical project areas include conveyance pipelines, collection pipelines, pump stations, flow control stations, lift stations, tanks/reservoirs, groundwater wells, water treatment and wastewater treatment. As a registered professional engineer, the Senior Civil Engineer is in responsible charge of in-house design work including the work performed by subordinate engineers.
