The position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon minimum qualifications:

Graduate Engineer A:
  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
  • Licenses and Certifications Required: None.


Graduate Engineer B:
  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with at least two (2) years of engineering experience.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Engineer-In-Training Certification.


Engineer A:
  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Professional Engineer License.


Notes to Applicants
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:
  • Graduate Engineer A: $29.25 to $37.96 per hour
  • Graduate Engineer B: $30.99 to $40.23 per hour
  • Engineer A: $32.84 to $42.63 per hour


Position Overview:
This Engineer position is responsible for:
  • Water Distribution and Treatment System Hydraulic Analysis and Planning
  • Hydraulic Modeling, alternative analysis, troubleshooting, planning, prioritization of water infrastructure projects
  • GIS Analysis - Use GIS for system analysis and mapping and integrate Austin Water databases with hydraulic models and prepare and maintain planning databases
  • Review Service Extension Requests, Engineering Reports and Construction Documents
  • System Analysis and Troubleshooting - Use of hydraulic models and technical skills to optimize water distribution system operation
  • Long Range Planning - Perform Planning Analysis and prepare planning documents for future water infrastructure
